September 25 Baby TheoFor those of you that have missed the news, baby Theo Lance was born at 1.10am on the 24th September, weighing in at 8lb 4oz.
Normal delivery, all is well with everyone.
We were let out of hospital this morning and have already been to toddler group and picked Hannah up from school. Hannah didn't know we were coming for her, but as soon as she saw us all thoughts went out of her blonde little head.
"Hello Hannah!".
"Have you got your bag Hannah?".
"Have you got your coat Hannah?"
"Hannah? Where's Louis gone?".
Nothing. No sense, no words, just
Not even disappointment that it was a boy instead of the girl she had wished for. Just
Neither child has taken their eyes off the new baby, he has been smothered in kisses and hugged too many times already. Now they are fighting over who is sitting next to him as he blissfully slumbers unaware of the problems he is already causing.
Hannah and Louis will be wonderful siblings, just as soon as they realise that this new baby is here to stay and they don't have to do all the loving in one go! September 22 Still WaitingBaby is now one week late and my life seems to revolve around waiting for baby, answering phone calls, texts and emails confirming that I am still waiting for baby and making arrangements to see the midwife. Incidentally, she is coming today to see me, but as it will be sometime between 9am and 3pm I have to wait in for her. All day. And Louis will miss his favourite toddler group. Oh the joys of imminent motherhood!
Baby will be born on the Autumn equinox if it comes today, and on my wedding anniversary if it comes tomorrow. And tomorrow will make it a Libra instead of a Virgo. After all that careful planning too. Come on Baby!
Blessed Mabon, Love and Light to all. September 19 Not Yet!I am still waiting for this beach ball to turn into a baby. I am getting quite fed up of " haven't you had that baby yet?", "are you still here?", and when is that baby coming?". I f I knew when it was coming I wouldn't be quite so fed up of waiting for it! Mind you, it might be sometime soon now, because I have been awake since 3am feeling absolutley awful, back and hips aching, even the cat moved for me to stretch out! I was in a hot shower by 5.30am trying to feel better and having a cuppa at 6am. Think it was the cuppa that did the trick really, but now I am sooo tired, and Louis wants to know when toddler group is. I really can't get through to him that there isn't one today.
The children have a clock in their bedroom now, and I carefully explained that they no longer had to wander into my bedroom at 6.15 every morning to ask if it was 'up time'. They could just look at the clock and when the big hand points to the top, and the little hand points to the 7, it is time to get up and get dressed. All was going well until...
We had one of those nights where the children just would not settle down. No matter what I did, or threatened or cajoled them with, they were not going to settle. Then..."it's up time!". "No, it isn't! There are two 7o'clocks in a day, and this is the wrong one!". It took some time to explain that they had not actually been to sleep yet and therefore it was not 'up time', but 'sleep time'. Don't you just love how literally children take everything?
Right, I'm off to see if I can convince this little blighter to come out, and hope that I recognise real labour when it eventually starts as I have had so many Braxton Hick's contractions I haven't known where I am. And as the results of my Strep B swabs came back positive, I need to be in hospital having at least four doses of antibiotics before baby comes. Ah well, I don't do quick labours, so I should be alright!
Oh, had a 'phone call from Louis' godfather, he says where I'm going wrong is by waiting for Christmas before having the baby, as both the other two were born over the festive period! September 15 Are You Sure You Want To Navigate Away From This Page? No. No i don't.
Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
No. I just told you I didn't.
Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
NO. NO NO NO! If I wanted to navigate away from this page I would have clicked something. Or pressed a key on the keyboard. As it was, all I did was move the mouse and
Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
This was happening with hotmail, so any of you that were expecting answers to emails, sorry! Hannah, I have no idea what time the dog show started, and since it was yesterday, even that information is now useless to you! Nicki, I will get you the food choices back as soon as I can, depending when I can get hold of Lord Lucan!
Anyway. bump is, yes, you've guessed it, still a bump. And there's something like a two per cent chance of it arriving today, it being it's due date. Not going to happen.
Jim, please, no more curry! Tasty as it is, I can no longer blame the dog for the smell in the house. The Hubs guesses it will be four days late, and people are starting to tell me they don't want to see me at the next toddler group/weekend family gathering etc. I just want to get this thing out, it's killing my hips now.
That it for now I think, I have no news as everything at the moment revolves around waiting. School runs, toddler groups and waiting.
I will let you know when anything happens, or someone will anyway! September 11 Quickie (don't be dirty!)Right then, quick one, cos its nearly time for toddler group!
Baby still being stubborn and refusing to come out. False labour is getting really annoying. All packed, instructions left with Momma as to what to do with various children and animals. Only just realised how many mouths I feed!
Hannah loving school, already gone through vast amounts of uniform in her enthusiastic use of paint. First full day today. Yay!
Louis moaning, he misses his sister. Or wants to go to nursery. Can't make his mind up. And he has man flu. At only 2 years old. Never good.
Archy is doing well, becoming one of the family. Jasper is still hogging the dog blankets to show who is boss. Mehitabel is getting fat. No not kittens, a second home. Up the road, where all the cats go as the old fella there feeds them. Winston looking more like his old self, can't wait to get riding again. Alfie is just Alfie...
I have moved on from blowing up light bulbs (not sure where original blog is, but you can look up SLI if you're interested). Now it's batteries. New camera batteries, watch battery, kitchen clock battery. Killed them all. Hubs reset kitchen clock, no problem. Same battery. Jeweller reset watch, no problem. Same battery. Camera batteries constantly need charging. Very strange. Hope I don't blow up anything in the hospital...
Group B Strep results back from hospital. Amazing how fast they can work sometimes. Less than a week. Positive. Means I need lots of antibiotics in labour, and will have to stay in for 24 hours after baby is born. Unless I discharge myself. Again.
Ever heard about rats deserting a sinking ship? Well, ever seen fleas deserting a drowning cat? Very amusing. Mehitabel didn't think so. Clean, fresh and now treated. Along with the dogs. And the rest of the house. Got to love Bob Martin!
Contracting now. Have stopped believing it's going to happen. Just going to stay this big for evermore. Will let you all know though!
Thank you Jim, for the use of your computer. And for rolling barrels of water through a field better suited to Glastonbury.
September 08 Week's worth of news...Right then, as I am not yet back on my own computer there is some catching up to do!
First things first, bump is still a bump. I now have one week left before my due date, and am hoping it comes sooner rather than later. Midwife is not holding out much hope though, as the other two were late arrivals.
Hannah's first (part)week of school went well; she is desperate to start staying for lunch though, as she did this at nursery and is missing it now. By the end of this week she should be staying for full days, and neither of us can wait! Her school is a 'healthy eating school' which does not allow biscuits, crisps or fizzy pop. Lots of parents are wondering now what on earth they can feed their children on, while I have an endless list of menu's that are healthy and interesting. Hannah has never been really bothered about junk food, and will eat whatever is put in front of her. So no problems on that count.
Louis has a stinking cold at the moment, but is not to be put off playing at toddler group or doing anything else he wants to do. He is much like his Daddy, and will not let anything slow him down.
Speaking of which, the Hubs wasn't very well last week. He started off with flu-like symptoms (he never has man-flu) and actually came home early from work one day. After a good sleep, he returned to work the next day but left me with instructions to call the doctor to try to arrange an appointment for him. The doctors did not have any appointment until after the weekend, which I informed them was of no use, he needed a doctor now. Nothing could be done. This was Thursday morning, and by Thursday night I knew we were going to need either an emergency appointment or a hospital visit. It was decided that the easiest course of action would be to use the walk in centre at our local hospital on Friday. Which means the Hubs went to work while I took Hannah to school, handed Louis over to Momma and went to pick up the Hubs to drive him to the hospital.
The nurse that he saw there took one look at him and announced that he needed to see a doctor and couldn't he have got an appointment with his GP? Well, now he could. Its amazing what you can get when the hospital phones your GP to tell them to see you ASAP! Anyway, the flu symptoms were caused by an infection in his leg (bizarrely) and he is now on a huge dose of antibiotics to kill the infection and vast amounts of steroid cream to help his eczema.
Right, lots more to go, I wil try to keep this short now!
Archy is settling in well, he nearly fell down the stairs yesterday when the cat challenged him; he just couldn't move fast enough! He does have a couple of issues, men are one, but he is already getting more trusting. He also steals, as he has been starved at some point, and will try to feed himself on anything that will fit in his mouth. Including my post.
I finally discovered this morning what is going on with Alfie (Momma's horse). I went up to the field at around 7.15 this morning and found Alfie laening over the fence, with the gatepost nearly horizontal and the gate hanging open. The lock was undone and the only thing keeping Alf in the field was the cahin draped through the gate and the fence. So who didn't fasten the lock properly yesterday? Never mind. The point is that I tapped Alfie's nose to move him away so that I could refasten the gate, and in doing so noticed that his pupils were unusually large and blue. Winston wondered up the field and I compared his eyes to Alfies. Wins pupils were much smaller and darker. Alfie can't see properly. He is getting on in years and these things happen, but it explains much of his behaviour. He acts scared when he hasn't seen someone for a while, because he can't recognise them as easily as Winston might. It also helps to explain how he acts when his ears are stroked, and his reluctance to let anyone ride. He is fine when the children are on him because he always has someone leading him, but if an adult wants to ride he will panic, probably because he doesn't know here he is going. He might be better going out with Winston, as he is big enough to see!
OK, nearly there!
Yesterday we got a new television from my least favourite electrical store. We didn't have a choice in this, as we had claimed on the house insurance and they only deal with Curry's. Oh well, the HUbs chose the youngest, greenest looking sales assisstant and bombarded him with questions. The young man stood up to interrogation, answered all questions honestly and explained everything in detail. It must have been the most difficult sale he ever made!
I think that's about it, except to say, the Hubs bought me flowers for my birthday! We have been together for six years now, and it is the second time he has bought me flowers. He even remembered that I can't stand to have lillies in the house, instead opting for two different colours of carnations and some lovely yellow roses. And on top of that, he bought me a box of Thornton's chocolates. Lucky me!
So, that's just about everything caught up on, now Louis' nose is bleeding as his horse (Hannah) threw him off onto the laminate floor and he stopped himself with his face. SoI'd better go and mop up.
Will have baby details soon, hopefully! September 03 First DayWhile I'm here on a borrowed PC, I might as well make the most of it!
Today was Hannah's first day of school, and she was sooo excited. She was up at 6.30am asking if she could get dressed in her new uniform yet. She even managed not to get her breakfast down it, so it must be something special!
She bounced into her new classroom with her friends from nursery and a few new faces, grabbed a book and went to sit on the carpet with everyone else. And that's when the tears started. No, not me, not even Hannah, but Louis. He was distraught that Hannah was staying at school and he wasn't even allowed to start nursery yet. He starts after Christmas, but to him that is a lifetime away. At least he has toddler group to look forward to on Monday, and some time with Mummy before baby comes along.
Hannah is on half days for a while, to settle her into school, which was a huge disappointment to her. She was really looking forward to staying for her lunch and is ready to be staying longer than three hours. It won't take her long to get into the swing of things at all and I have no concerns about leaving her for the full day.
So this is not the end of an era, I am not losing my little girl. She is growing up at her own pace and becoming a lovely, independant individual. I look forward everyday to seeing the changes and hearing what she has learnt, while she thinks all she does is play!
I am so excited to see what she does with her life, and I will support her every step of the way. As long as it's slow steps, because this baby is getting heavy! Falling Apart...It all started off when the TV gave up,
Sometime late in last year.
The rest of the house is following suit
In rapid succession I fear.
A telly was borrowed; the aerial though
Was running beneath the floor.
A rat in the cellar fancied a snack
And now the reception's no more.
The clock in the kitchen began running slow
And left us twelve hours behind.
A replacement battery was fitted in haste
But appears to be the wrong kind.
Not to be beaten the dishwasher died
And melted the kids' plastic plates.
Now it will only run a cool wash
At least it's saving on rates!
Still in the kitchen the floor was a-flood
The washing machine all blocked up.
Some pennies, a screw and most of the dog
Left me bailing out with a cup.
Now to top it all off the vacuum blew up
With a bang and a puff of blue smoke.
So I'm off to Argos to re-stock the house;
Now it's me that's going to be broke!
R.N. (c) September 01 Good Afternoon World!Hello peeps! I'm back for a mo just to tell you I'm alright, still H U G E as baby is waiting a bit longer before making an appearance into this mad world.
My broadband is not working so I'm currently on a borrowed computer trying to catch up with emails and blogs etc. Good job I wasn't bidding on anything on eBay!
I have been through most people's blogs but as I have been offline for a week I haven't had time yet to leave comments on anyone's pages.
So, not much news here, except that Marble is still with us and doing well, although he is now called Archy. I have extra bruises from him which is once again going to draw the attention of the midwife when I see her on Thursday. Oh well.
Hannah is starting school on Wednesday so we have been through her school uniform to make sure she has everything she needs, bought extra polo shirts and today we went in search of plimsolls. Now, when a sign reads 'Plimsolls and bag only 99p!' I sort of expect to be able to get the plimsolls and bag for 99p. Not so. The sign should have read 'Plimsolls and bag only 99p each!'. I saw many confused people at the till digging around for more change. Perhaps should have complained, but £1.98 isn't really much money for something she needs.
I'm getting phone calls and texts every day from people asking if baby is coming yet; NO! I will let you all know when it is! Apparently next weekend is Rotherham Show, and my mother in law informs me she DOES NOT want to see me there. I will do my best, but this baby will be coming out when it is ready, and not before.
So, peeps, I will catch up with you all when I can.
Jayne, take it easy and get better soon!
Bye for now! |
