    Bank Holiday Weekend

We're back! And if you haven't missed me, I've been away visiting my brother and sister-in-law in Crawley. Not the best holiday destination, you may be thinking, but Brighton is a short train ride away and it was so lovely to catch up with our family.
The weather was fabulous, the company was wonderful, and the alcohol flowed.
I couldn't have asked for better behaviour from the children, even though they were too excited to sleep at all! They were polite, funny and provided endless entertainment to anyone who would listen to them. Hannah made a 'television hat' from an empty Stella box, then got her head stuck in it. Louis just smiled his special smile towards whoever was pointing a camera at him.
We wandered along Brighton Pier and up to the funfair, to discover that half the rides were too big for the children, and Lou was scared of the ones he was allowed on! Never mind, we all enjoyed it anyway. After that was a trip to the Sea life centre, to be wowed and amazed at the size of the catfish, the grace of the sharks and the sheer weirdness of various other sea creatures.
Louis fell asleep on Daddy's shoulders walking back to the train station, and slept through all of the journey, only to wake on arriving back at the house and demand food!
There are so many things to tell, but you won't want to hear it all. I finally got to know my sister-in-law, Nicki, and it's about time! We had a wonderful time, were made more then welcome, and spoiled rotten.
So now all we need to do is figure out how to put them up for a visit to Sunny Sheffield!

    Perfectly Tanned?

Well, today is the day! I'm finally biting the bullet, and going for a .......fake tan! Yes, thats right folks, I am so sick of streaky looking legs that I have booked an appointment to go to a real tanning salon and pay good money to get a spray tan.
    ????
Am I going mad? I think I must be. I am the worlds worst person for evading hairdressers, beauty salons and even bra fitters, and here I am, about to bare all to a random stranger. And pay her for the pleasure.
I hope it turns out alright, because I'm visiting my brother and his wife this weekend and I wanted to at least be able to wear cropped jeans! The woman in the shop assured me that I wouldn't streak, as long as I didn't bathe, shower or do any sort of physical excercise for around 6 hours afterwards. Do they have any idea of what a normal life is like?
Oh, well, it can't be worse than trying to apply the bottled goop that I usually have that creates such an artistic effect on my legs.
Any horror stories, keep them to yourselves please, at least until after its all over...

    The Deed Is Done...

So, the deed is done. All the hard work has finally paid off; Momma has married the Highlander.
The day was a little frought to begin with, beginning at 7.30am when the children needed feeding, bathing and dressing, then had to be kept clean! I dashed over to Momma's house to put the finishing touches to her outfit; hair grip and corsage. I was driving the sacred Honda as the wedding car, and it's amazing how many people let you through when you have ribbons fluttering!
We were all on track for the ceremony, arriving at the Town Hall with plenty of time for a few deep breaths, when we realised we were missing my hubs, along with the kids and the wedding rings...
The poor bloke had to park miles away and drag the children up the hill. Han got distracted by some donkeys and walked into a lamppost and Lou refused to walk at all.
However, once things got going, it was plain sailing. The register office cermony was short and to the point, giving us time to enjoy taking pictures in the Botanical Gardens before returning to Momma's house for a meal, and the second ceremony.

We entertained the neighbours by performing a pagan handfasting ritual in the back garden. It was a lovely simple ceremony, with lots of beautiful flowers and wine!
The meal was cooked by the newly-weds, and it was gorgeous. Everyone was after the recipe! The kids certainly enjoyed it, shovelling it in as fast as possible whilst making appreciative noises.
And, of course, there was drinking and music later on. Rachael (my sister in law) and I had a bet as to how long my brother would last. She won, he was done by 8pm! So the poor, long-suffering girl had to drive him home and put up with his snoring.
Here's to the future, for Momma and Jim. Have fun, and don't take life too seriously.
    Blessed be.

    Busy, busy, busy!

Wow! This week has been more ofa mad rush around than my life usually is!
I have been making a new dress for Hannah, creating hair grips and bracelets from silk flowers and wire and painting a horse shoe.
And in between, I have been up at the field twice a day to fetch Apollo back and put him in the correct field. I have managed to tear my leg to shreds on one of these trips and that meant a quick rethink on the outfit I had planned for this weekend. Black tights it is then!
The dog runs and conifers have been torn down in the garden, and we stood agape at the amount of space it created. As if we needed anymore space in the garden. The dog has figured out how to get out, and he must be brighter than us because we can't find where he is getting out. I wouldn't mind so much but he keeps coming through the neighbour's gardenand she's not a happy bunny...
Next job is to knock down the kennels and outhouses as they are badly built from breeze block and a potential hazard. Then we might be able to get on with redesigning the garden, as we will heve enough spare materials!
I think I will go riding today, as long as the rain holds off. Watch this space, I'm about due for another fall...

    My Weekend...

I have a few things to say today. Firstly, I apologise to my friends if I haven't been on your site for a while. I seem to have lost some people from my friends list. I don't know if this is something I have done, a glitch on MSN, or you lot deleting me! If I've not been around and you're missing me Open-mouthed, send me a freinds invite so I can add you again!

glitter-graphics.com I have had a computer free weekend, and it was great! Unfortunately, when I turned it back on I had 26 Hotmail messages and 6 Yahoo messages waiting for me! I junked 20 of them straight away, does anyone else have this problem? I have a spam filter but it's obviously not on form at the moment...

glitter-graphics.com I found myself rudely awakened at around 4.30 this morning by a loud crashing noise. I thought it sounded like it came from our garage so I had a quick look out of the window. I couldn't see anything so decided I must have imagined it. I climbed back into bed and was just dropping off to sleep again when I suddenly realised what the noise had been. My lovely new cat had, very thoughtfully, decided that he would let himself out so that he didnt wake me. He had come upstairs, climbed out of the bathroom window, jumped down onto the porch roof, and across to the garage. The sound that woke me was the garage roof falling in... I had to get up and rescue Ziggy from inside the garage, where we ascertained that he had only injured his pride. He retired to the kid's play tent and sulked in there for half an hour. Photo's to follow!

    Happy...

Blessed Lughnasadh! Today is the festival to commemorate the death of the foster mother of Lugh; Tailtiu. She died from exhaustion after clearing forest so that it may be used for growing crops. It is the first of the harvest, a time to beging cutting corn and picking berries. Great for the summer holidays! Get the kids out there with baskets...

Happy Yorkshire Day! Today we celebrate our heritage and try to explain to people exactly what welly wanging and flat cap flinging is all about!

Happy National Play Day! This is a new one on me, a campaign to make the streets a safer place for our children to play, just like we used to (?). We attended a Play Day today, and it was wonderful. Plenty of activities that children should be doing, from den building to kite flying to painting. A wonderful day.
